Hello, and welcome to Spiritual Fit Chick. I am Holly Joy McCabe and I am a holistic life coach, nutritionist, and fitness expert.

My main goal and passion in life are to help women get vibrantly healthy physically, mentally and spiritually (and just to clarify, I do not prescribe to or teach any one religion or philosophy when it comes to spirituality).

Over the past 14 years, I have attended various leading institutions in the holistic health world, including the Natural Health Institute, Spencer Institute, AFPA, and NESTA. I have learned so many invaluable tools to help my clients get healthy, and deal with a multitude of health issues. As a full-time entrepreneur in this field, I’ve worked with thousands of people from all walks of life with all kinds of health conditions.

Let me just say this though, academics are only of the reason I got into this industry. As much as I’d love to tell you my passion originally started with wanting to help other people, the truth is it all started because I was desperate to help MYSELF. I had spent years of my life with disordered and emotional eating, severe depression, suicide attempts, food addiction, obesity, chronic health issues, and mental and spiritual dysfunction in my life, not to mention codependency and attachment to toxic relationships. I was desperately seeking balance, self-love, health, and confidence and knew the answers were out there somewhere.  It is that continuous dedication to healing my own mind, body, and soul from the trauma, disordered eating, self-loathing, extreme diets, disconnection from myself and mystery health issues that has guided my career and made me excel in it far more than any credential. Most importantly, I learned the vital importance of integrating the mind, body, and soul for weight loss, health, and happiness. The principles and techniques I learned and used not only helped my physical and emotional health, but they also healed my relationships with others. This healing lead to an amazing, satisfying and healthy marriage, and my self-worth and mental blocks towards business also dissolved. All of this combined is what has allowed me to build a thriving practice for going on 15 years!

I’m not that perfect bodied fitness model who doesn’t understand what it’s like to be uncomfortable in her own skin and struggle with her weight, the athlete who’s had a strong, capable body their whole life, the woman who married her high school sweetheart and never had her heart broke, or the health guru who doesn’t struggle with cravings or slip-ups on her healthy lifestyle journey. I’m real, I’m human, and I have been through so much on my path. But, I have one thing going for me. I am relentless in my pursuit of knowledge, balance, and healing. I have been through it, I’ve found the solutions, and I know what works for real life and lasting change. I am excited to share with you the tools that I have used for my own healing and thousands of clients over the years.

So as you can see, this is why it is my truest passion to teach and inspire others to live healthfully so they can enjoy fuller happier lives.

My Personal story.

I went on my first diet at age 9. I spent the first half of my adolescence with a severe eating disorder, distorted body image and complete lack of any type of self-esteem. At such a young fragile age I was convinced I would only be loved, happy and wanted by anyone in life when I looked like the girls in Teen Magazine. I spent the next 20 something years fighting these same deeply rooted ideas that were severely compounded by my pursuit of a career within a superficially driven fitness industry. Fitness was a career I originally chose because I thought it would “force me” to be fit. The joke was on me with that one! The more I hated myself for not looking like the women on the cover of fitness magazines, the deeper I fell into horrible cycles of depression, isolation and abusive/addictive behaviors, including binge eating and then extreme diet and exercise patterns. I started to search for a different way. Through my endless fascination and study of self-awareness, emotional discovery, energy and somatic healing, advanced nutrition, psychology, and spirituality I peeled back layer by layer until I got to the CORE of my discontent and lack of permanent “results”.

I slowly but surely started to realize the fitness industry has everything backward! It doesn’t teach self-love, it perpetuates self-hate! I knew innately the thing I wanted more than ANYTHING wasn’t the perfect 6 pack, it was so much more. Underneath that yearning for the perfect body was something much deeper. I wanted to feel like I was ENOUGH. Like I was WORTHY of love and happiness. I wanted permission to LIVE my life. I wanted more than anything to feel confident in my body, to be at peace with, and in harmony with it. To LOVE my body! To feel empowered in my own skin, and not a prisoner to the way I looked or felt. What I had missed for so long was that my body didn’t have to LOOK a certain way for me to be able to love and appreciate it! I had spent years abusing and hating my body, when I only needed to love and nurture my it, and the rest took care of itself. Once I started to work on myself from the INSIDE OUT (including holistically nourishing my body through real nutrition), my whole world began to shift! I learned your body is only a small part of the equation of truly loving yourself as a whole. After years of switching my focus from the outside-in approach (diets/exercise) to the inside-out (self-love/emotional health) approach, I finally started to reach a place of self-acceptance and liberation within my body that I had never experienced.

This self-love and confidence far exceeded my physical body and my work, but my personal and spiritual life continued to blossom as well. I released toxic relationship patterns that were merely a reflection of the abusive relationship I had with myself. I started to coach my clients on things much deeper than just reps and sets, and calorie counting, and I started to feel in true alignment with my work and purpose in the ‘fitness’ industry. I realized more and more the core foundation for every area of our lives is loving ourselves and building the rest on that. There are so many layers of old patterns and beliefs that you have to navigate through, process and release to get to this point but this process is what I have dedicated my life’s work to helping women do! A different life is possible!

Taking care of your body and optimizing your health through exercise and nutrition are such incredibly powerful parts of self-empowerment and healing, but they are only small components of the big picture. Spiritual Fit Chick IS the big picture.

More Random facts about me

I graduated high school and left home at 16 to pursue my dream of being a singer/songwriter in Nashville and escape an abusive home life. Music was my saving grace and whole world for many years, but eventually, I hated the corruption in the industry and pursued health full time.

I am a serial entrepreneur. I started my first business at age 21, and have had various small endeavors here and there over the years. My biggest labor of love was my fitness facility in Nashville, TN, Kaizen Hybrid Training. The sole mission and purpose of this facility was to empower women, teach them about being physically and emotionally strong, and focus on appreciating their body for what it DOES rather than only what it LOOKS like. We trained everyone from advanced athletes, people with chronic health conditions, to seniors and kids. The name meant “Constant and Never Ending improvement” and we focused on always striving to improve yourself, while still loving where you are at. After 8 amazing years, and thousands of clients helped, I made the decision to close this gym to take the message of Spiritual Fit Chick far beyond Nashville, and to the entire world!

I am a dog lover, animal rescuer, and have a special love and appreciation for the incredibly misunderstood pitbull breed. I have 3 dogs of my own, I’m an advocate for all animals in various ways. Through that love, I have embraced and fallen in love with the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle.

I am a solo adventurer and wanderlust could be my middle name! After spending a year traveling the U.S. and other countries to work through, well…some  “personal shit”, I developed a passion for traveling and an absolute fascination with how deeply therapeutic it is for the soul. These transformative adventures lead me to create Zen Finders, a travel company that is about SELF-exploration and discovery as much as it is seeing amazing places.

Check the retreats page (Link) for more info on this! Search #findmyzen and #zenfinders to discover the movement.

I am a self-proclaimed fashionista, who believes fashion, makeup and beauty are what you make them and exactly what feels right to YOU (not what the magazines tell you they should be). I love describing these things as merely a creative way to express yourself and feel fabulous, rather than things you are dependant on to make you feel like you are enough. Helping women find confidence and tap into these creative expressions is another part of my work that I love.

I spent years on the diet roller coaster going from 130lbs, to 200lbs over and over again. While I am happily divorced from the scale, I maintain a healthy weight of around 160 and have never looked or felt better! I’m an anti-scale advocate!

I competed in the sport of strongwoman for 3 years and learned SO Much about how powerful the mind and body can become. My max lift was a 500lb rack called a “Yoke” carried on my back for 60 feet. You learn to crush your beliefs about what’s possible through competitive training like this.

I am an empath, HSP (highly sensitive person), and a total introvert who everyone thinks is an extrovert. I love social situations to an extent but need lots of recharge time to make it through. I practice various energy work healing modalities like reiki, craniosacral work, emotion code for myself and use these for others within my coaching.

I currently live in Charlotte NC, with an amazing husband, our fur kids, and have plans to obtain my Phd in alternative medicine and mind/body science in the coming years. I can’t wait to take natural healing to an even bigger level and help people heal from severe chronic illnesses.

Make sure to connect with me on my channels and reach out to say hello! I LOVE getting to know new people and hearing about their own stories!
